ROS Product categories for registrationtt

SPRO – SAP SRM – Supplier Registration – Basic Settings – Select product categories for registration

In ROS, we have an option to 'Select product categories for Registration'; Here we are defining which are all the product categories which supplier wants to supply in the process of registering himself; Then what is the use of 'Display field' in this config; If you do not want a supplier to register against a product category then we don't have the product category here at all.

I am not getting the complete picture of functionality behind 'Display' & 'Active' options.
